Doomsday

From the text of Doomsday...

⚫"EUGENE: and it's what I wanted to share with you all. 'I presume that to be human is to have a fear of uncertainty. To sacrifice one's fear is to ascend to a higher being. Some examples of people who has successfully done so are Jesus, Dolly Parton, and Buddha. And I think of iron clouds as a haven for the ascended. When fear is burnt under the fire, metal bars are forged, and the freedom leftover is as weightless as vapor.'"

⚫ "BOB: 'Seek and ye shall find an answer. Offer and ye shall find a living.' And that is what we are really doing here-underground in the basement of Schiller's."

⚫"WOMAN: (interrupting Janus) Listen, I have to get going if I'm to finish the work by the end of the night. You make sure to give the loved ones my regards, and get a good long rest-for me."

⚫"CARDBOARD: Quicksand. This grass-this box-the bed-it's all quicksand. And rats. Rats tip-tapping all over my body. Explosions and eruptions. And carried. Getting carried and I can't move my body. It's all limp! The life's drained out of it. Every person in my life sucked it out of me, and you, Silas, sucked the last drop."

⚫"W0M4N: I've initiated a critically important mission. Many eyes are going to be on it, so it's very important that I do it right. It's... it's... a mural! That's right. I'm painting a mural on the billboard that stands on the outskirts of town, marking us as Settlement 13."

⚫"STAIRS: You don't actually wanna get lost in my eyes or wrap ourselves in the covers like we're burrito filling. You just said that. And it's evil. You are weak. And you don't know anything. And you are gone, baby-gone!"

⚫"TREE: Time and I've been dosey-doin' round n' round this tree, haven't ya heard, Mr. Squirrel? And Mr. Rock. Oh, and Mrs. Snail. And Mr. and Mrs. Dirty Dirt. And How'd ya do? I'm Miss Katharine. And Miss Scarlet. And I'm Mrs. Wendy Hayworth."

⚫"TARA: Take it all, Silas. Dust is all it's known recently. It needs some life to bring its color."

⚫"TOILET: The scent's stale and reality's faded into whispers. Dust particles are suspended in mid-air. They float just out of reach-riding the air wave around my hands and into the suspension from whence they came. All this disintegrating matter and I'm a poet now. I hate poetry. Death shrouds itself in spectacle and the most sentimental among us adorn it with beauty. Not I... Not I... 

⚫"PERFORMER: I'm entering the subway car. And I'm entering the subway car because I have a meeting. And I have a meeting because I'm scheduled for one."

⚫"SWINGS: The end of the world. The one thing that's important for humanity to come to a consensus on... we can't. My solution is humanity should just schedule a date for all of us to euthanize ourselves. We should just decide on a date to go out rather than playing this guessing game. I mean-I wouldn't go through with it."
